Jose has been volunteering at The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s since July 2011. He came to us so he could be involved in an activity that would allow him to be active and get some exercise. He volunteers in our Walk-In Program three days a week for about 12 hours per week–his time makes a huge difference!
Jose is one of our volunteers who helps with all sorts of things. In the mornings he helps us clean up the kitchen and sometimes prepares the coffee for other volunteers. Throughout the day he will help us with sorting and re-packaging donations. You’ll also see Jose gathering up empty crates and interacting with customers to help keep the line moving quickly. Additionally, Jose often helps us with translation when we have Spanish-speaking customers or potential volunteers.
He says he enjoys spending his time this way and likes helping others. He also likes being at The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s so he can talk to many different people. Jose’s work ethic is a great asset to our volunteer team. Thank you, Jose!
