Current Available Volunteer Opportunities

Drivers | Cook | Distributor | Warehouse Helper | Walk-In Sorter and Distributor

You can express your interest in volunteering in two ways:

  1. Fill in the form below and submit it at the bottom (recommended). Our volunteer coordinator will contact you with details about current needs, and next steps, including the required background check.
     

  2. Alternatively, you can download the Application here. Print it, fill it out, and send it back to us through email, mail or walk-in.

Pick-Up Driver

Available positions: Mornings between 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM. 2 hour commitment. 

Requirements:

  • Reliability

  • Ability to lift at least 30lb safely

  • Good driving record

  • Must have insured vehicle or be comfortable driving a van

 

Home Delivery Driver

Available positions: Thursdays between 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM. 2 hour commitment. 

Requirements:

  • Reliability

  • Must have own car with insurance and a clean driving record

  • Must be compassionate, friendly, and comfortable interacting with people with disabilities

  • Ability to communicate the requirements and goals of our Home Delivery Program

  • Ability to take and follow directions

  • Cultural sensitivity

  • Bags can be picked up for delivery between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM

Walk-In Sorter and Distributor

Available positions: Monday, Wednesday, Friday Between 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM

Requirements:

  • Reliability

  • Ability to take and follow verbal directions

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and grab with hands for a couple hours at a time

  • Willingness to sort, distribute, or clean up based on the needs of the food bank on any particular day

  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment

  • Cultural sensitivity

Lunch Cook - Not needed currently

Requirements:

  • Reliability

  • Must be comfortable creating dishes based on what is available

  • Must be comfortable working independently

  • Must be patient and able to work in a small kitchen

  • Ability to stand and walk for 3-4 hours

  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe environment

  • Must have kitchen and food safety knowledge

  • Must be able to cook meals for and interact with a diverse crowd

  • Ability to occasionally come in with short notice is a plus but not a requirement

Warehouse Helper

Available positions: Monday - Friday Between 8 AM and 1:30 PM

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 30lb safely

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift and use hands for a few hours at a time

  • Ability to take and follow verbal directions

  • Willingness to perform various tasks based on the needs of the food bank

  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment

Group Volunteer

Available times: Wednesdays and Fridays from 

9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Requirements:

  • Group size less than 10 people

  • Ability to take and follow verbal directions

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment

  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and grab with hands for a couple hours at a time

  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment

  • Cultural sensitivity

 The Food Bank @ St. Mary’s provides food and personal care items to anyone aged 18 or older.

​

We are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Holidays, inclement weather or other events might impact these hours.

Last year alone, the Food Bank @ St. Mary’s distributed more than

2 million pounds of food by:

  • Serving  more than 107,000 households

  • Providing 7,000 bags of groceries to children and their families in local schools

  • Making more than 11,500 food deliveries to home bound clients

  • Recording 22,700 hours of volunteer time
